Ilham Aliyev: the Azerbaijani military has taken control of new villages

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has announced that Azerbaijani forces have taken control of two villages in the Jabrayil (Jrakan) district, two villages in the Zangilan (Kovsakan) district and three villages in the Gubadli (Kashunik) district.

Parts of Lachin-Shusha road ‘temporarily closed’ for civilians

The Nagorno-Karabakh Defence Ministry has announced that parts of the road between Lachin (Berdzor) and Shusha (Shushi) has been ‘temporarily closed’ for civilians ‘due to security reasons’. The Ministry writes that Armenian forces are currently searching for ‘Azerbaijani subversive groups’ in the area.

Azerbaijan opens criminal case against creators of ‘unauthorised’ videos from ‘areas of hostilities’

Azerbaijan’s State Security Service has announced that they have opened up a criminal case against ‘a number of individuals made unauthorized video recordings in the areas of hostilities’. 

‘These videos were used by the enemy army to obtain information about the forces and positions of the troops of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as to carry out intelligence-sabotage activities’, the announcement reads.

Aliyev: Armenia ‘accept their military defeats and our victory’

On Twitter, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev declared victory against Armenia. 

‘We have modern weapons and a high fighting spirit’, the Azerbaijani President wrote. ‘We have proved who is who, the "invincible army" of Armenia is a legend. They have already admitted their defeat. This means that they accept their military defeats and our victory.’

Azerbaijani peace activists questioned by Security Services

At least three more Azerbaijani activists have been questioned by the State Security Service over their online activities.

Two of them who asked not to be named told OC Media that they were questioned about their posts on social media critical of the war and of the Azerbaijani government.

A third activist who also asked not to be named said he was questioned for criticising the government.

Several other activists have previously been questioned on similar grounds.

A previous version of this story was removed due to security concerns from one of the activists.

Azerbaijani MOD: Colonel Khafiz Agayev is alive 

The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence has denied claims made several days ago on Armenian social media that Colonel Khafiz Agayev had been killed in action. ‘Agayev is alive and is continuing his service’, the statement released by the Ministry reads.

Armenian MP: Consultations on ‘the size and type’ of Russian military assistance are currently underway

Speaking with Azatutyun, Armenian MP and head of the Permanent Parliamentary Commission on Foreign Relations Ruben Rubinyan has said that consultations between Armenian and Russian authorities on ‘the size and type’ of Russian military assistance, in line with the two countries’ Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance, are currently underway.

Official numbers of civilian deaths during fighting at 137

Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General reports that a total of 91 civilians have been killed, and 405 injured. 

Nagorno-Karabakh’s Human Rights Defender Artak Beglaryan has said that a total of 46 civilians have been killed since the fighting began and 144 have been injured.

City mayor: 40% of Stepanakert has been destroyed 

Local Armenian media report that in an interview with Armenian newspaper Hraparak, Stepanakert (Khankandi) mayor Davit Sargsyan said that 40% of the city has been destroyed since the fighting began. He also said that from a population of 55,000, roughly 30% still remain in the city.

Azerbaijan and Armenia report shelling of civilian settlements overnight

Azerbaijan reports that villages in the Tartar, Aghjabadi, and Aghdam regions have been shelled.  Armenian officials report that Shusha (Shushi) was hit with ‘large calibre’ artillery last night.

Armenia reports fighting near Shusha 

Armenian Ministry of Defence spokesperson, Shushan Stepanyan, reports that fighting is underway between Armenian and Azerbaijani forces near Shusha (Shushi).
