The administration of American president Donald Trump has released a list of terrorist attacks, which, in their opinion, were left intentionally unreported by the press. The list includes an armed incident in the Daghestani town of Derbent in 2015.
As a result of the incident, an attack on the Naryn-Kala fortress in Derbent on 30 December 2015, twelve people were taken to hospital with gunshot wounds, while one man died.
The list of terrorist attacks was drawn up after Trump delivered one of his frequent attacks on the media. Speaking at an Air Force base in Florida, the US president said that attacks by radical Islamic groups remained largely unreported.
‘You’ve seen what happened in Paris and Nice. All over Europe it’s happening. It’s gotten to a point where it’s not even being reported’, Trump told a group of military leaders and troops during the visit. ‘And in many cases, the very, very dishonest press doesn’t want to report it. They have their reasons and you understand that.’
The list includes 78 terrorist attacks, which, according to the White House, received almost no coverage in the American press. In addition to the incident in Derbent, the list includes another terrorist attack against Russian citizens: the explosion of Kogalymavia Flight 9268, which was flying from Sharm El Sheikh, in Egypt, to St Petersburg on 31 October 2015. All 224 passengers and crew died in the attack.
