Ingushetia to create ‘hooligan database’

Head of Ingushetia Yunus-Bek Yevkurov has ordered that a database be created of aggressive sport fans. He gave this order on 15 June to the Secretary of the Security Council Ahmed Dzeitov.

Yevkurov says that having such database will allow police to counter possible disorder at sports events.

‘It is necessary to create a database of people whose behaviour is not appropriate for a fan, and to keep their surnames. Thus, when they appear in other competitions, they will be singled out. In the future, it will be easier to take appropriate measures against them. The same people should not travel around the region and create unrest’, the main local newspaper, Ingushetia quotes him as saying.

The decision was spurred by an incident during the recently concluded Russian freestyle wrestling championship, which took place in Ingushetia.

During a fight between Ossetian Zaurbek Sidakov and Daghestani Magomedkhabib Kadimagomedov, fans jumped into the ring and began a brawl after a disagreement over the referee's decision.

Commenting on the incident, President of the Russian Wrestling Federation Mikhail Mamiashvili, said that if this continues, it would be worth ‘moving of such championships to the North Pole’.
